ITALY WANTS TO INCREASE TOURISM WITH CAMBODIA

PENH, Jan. 13, 2010 (PQRU) – His Excellency Dr. Sok An welcomed
an initiative raised by His Excellency Michelangelo Pipan who

of the efforts to attract more tourists.

Excellency Dr. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister
told Cambodia’s athletic group to focus more on
training practicing, which is the main factor to
bring them success for the nation.
Speaking at the meeting with the 180 players before
they left to contest in the Southeast Asian Games
(SEA GAMES) which is being held in Laos, His
Excellency Sok An said Cambodian players
should bear in mind that such the sport event is
more than just the game itself.
“You are representing the Cambodia’s image at the
international stage. You carry Cambodia’s flags, and
the whole world will salute our flag when you win
the games,” Sok An, who is also the Minister

DPM Sok An Meets Minister of Knowledge Economy of Korea
H.E. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers met with
H.E. Choi Kyung-Hwan, Minister of Knowledge Economy of the Republic of Korea, and his delegation on October 23, 2009 at the Office of the Council of Ministers.
During the meeting, H.E. Cambodia and Korea sign MOU on Petroleum Exploration and Rice Export Investment
A Memorandum of Understanding on Petroleum Exploration Cooperation between Cambodian National Petroleum Authority (CNPA) and Korean National Oil Corporation (KNOC) and a separate Memorandum of Understanding on Rice Export Investment Project between Green Trade Company and KTC/Kyung An Cable Co., Ltd and Kookmin Bank were signed on an occasion presided over by
H.E. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister in Charge of the Office of the Council of Ministers. The ceremony was held on October 23, 2009.

Administration Information System Inaugurated
A Ceremony to
mark the Commencement of the Provincial Administration
Information System (PAIS) was held on
October 23, 2009 at the
Office of the Council of Ministers. The ceremony was
presided over by H.E. Sok

the Office of the Council of Ministers, and H.E. Choi
Kyung-Hwan, Minister of Knowledge Economy of the Republic of
Korea.

STATEMENT OF THE GOVERNMENT'S SPOKESMAN
After commenting by Prime Minister Hun Sen on October 21, 2009
regarding an arranging a residence available for the former
Prime Minister, Thaksin Shinawatra, if he wishes to stay in
Cambodia, leaders of Thailand made consecutive statements, which
showed the stance of Thailand that if Mr. Thaksin is to move to
Cambodia, the Government of Thailand would seek extradition of
Mr. Thaksin be returned to Thailand based on the Treaty which
was signed by the two governments in 1998 (source: Bangkok Post,
October 22, 2009).

Declaration
The Outcome of the Round-Table Discussion on the Temple of Preah
Vihear and the Candidacy of Cambodia to the World Heritage
Committee
The
round-table discussion on “the Temple of Preah Vihear and the
candidacy of Cambodia to the World Heritage Committee (WHC)” was
held on 22nd October, 2009 with the participation of members of
the Senate, members of the Parliament, representatives of the
Joint Border Commission (JBC), representatives of the Royal
Academy of Cambodia, senior researchers in culture and history,
and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). The discussion was
conducted for the purpose of clarifying national and
international opinions concerning the inscription of the Temple
of Preah Vihear on the World Heritage List and the submission of
the candidacy of Cambodia to the WHC. The outcome of the
round-table discussion is as follows:

PM Samdech HUN SEN Presides Over the 15th Anniversary
of the Brigade 70
Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN,
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, presided over the
15th Anniversary of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces Brigade 70.
The Anniversary celebration was held on October 13, 2009.
In his remarks, Samdech Techo HUN SEN expressed his
appreciation to Brigade 70 for its tireless efforts in
contributing to national defense and rehabilitation of
infrastructure in the country. He acknowledged the immense
contribution of Brigade 70 in these aspects as one of the
factors attracting national and international investors to do
business in Cambodia.
Samdech Techo
added that the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has been
making further reform in the armed forces to enhance the quality
and efficiency of national security. Also, the RGC is having the
policy of granting concession land to families of army personnel
whose husbands were killed in action.

General Conference of UNESCO
On October 8, 2009, a high-level delegation of 10
members, headed by H.E. Dr. Sok An, Deputy

they will be attending the 35th General
Conference of UNESCO.

Declares Full Support for Cambodia’s Candidacy for
the WHC’s Membership
Minister to the Vietnamese Embassy in
Cambodia, H.E. Mrs. Ngo Thi Hoa has announced
the government of Vietnam’s full support for
Cambodia’s candidacy to be a member of the World
Heritage Committee (WHC).

E-Library at the RAC inaugurated by DPM H.E. Dr. Sok

H.E. Dr. Sok An, Deputy Prime Minister and

Ministers inaugurated a modern library, donated by
the Chinese-ASEAN Association through the Chinese
Embassy in Cambodia to the Royal Academy of Cambodia

Sok An Signs Amended Assistance Agreement with USAID

Fuller have signed an
Amendment Number
One to the USAID Assistance Agreement on
behalf of their respective governments. H.E.
Carol A. Rodley, U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia,
was also present at the ceremony and signed the
document as a witness.

States of America and the Royal Government of
Cambodia for the USAID Economic Growth Program was
held on September 23, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at the
